IEF Morocco: a General Assembly under the banner of succession and renewal

The Moroccan Family Business Institute (IEF Maroc) held its Ordinary Elective General Meeting on June 25, 2025, which included the renewal of its Executive Board and the organization of a conference dedicated to succession in family businesses.

Founded in 2023, IEF Maroc now brings together more than forty Moroccan family businesses from various sectors and regions, united by the desire to sustain their activity, promote good governance, and facilitate intergenerational succession.

Since its inception, the Institute has made numerous advances: a strategic partnership with the IFC – World Bank Group, admission to the FBN International network as the first African association, and a unique agreement with IEF-España. Studies on the taxation of family holding companies and the impact of the Moudawana reform are also underway. During the General Assembly, ten members were elected to form the Executive Board for 2025-2027. Mr. Kacem Bennani Smires was reappointed President, while Mr. Amine Benkirane succeeded Mr. Jalil Benabbés-Taarji as Vice President General.

On the sidelines of this meeting, a conference entitled "Passing on the Torch" brought together economic decision-makers and business leaders to discuss the human and strategic challenges of intergenerational succession. Mr. Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, emphasized the essential role of family businesses in the national economy.

Through candid testimonies and intergenerational dialogue, the conference highlighted the importance of memory, values, and preparation in the transition of family businesses.
